It's been quite a while....why is that. You are sleeping - your morning nap. You are climbing up on things, standing in your crib and such.
1. When nursing, you hum until your milk comes. as if this is your magical calling.
2. When i stick my tongue out at you, you bring yours out as well and play with it.
3. you take your fingers and serenade me with sounds from fingers and lips.
4. everytime you get a cheerio in your mouth, you shout out and talk.
5. You still are smiling at anyone and everyone, but once they pick you up or take you over, you lean back for mommy.
6. You are about 20 pounds - almost ready to change your car seat.
7. enamored by your sister and your brother. Perry needs to pay more attention to you.

History
Why do i always wait until the last minute to add somethign to your blog??
You are now 7 months old. You make heads turn my lovely boy. so many people are in awe of your beauty and in return, you smile, laugh, coo and add to thier sense of pleasure.
A couple of things
1. When you are nursing, you hum (or so it seems) when no milk is coming and you hum as if you are singing for your supper. it is very endearing.
2. This evening, i took you to the Twins baseball game. you lasted up until the 5th inning and then you began to sound off until many of the patrons were looking your way. I called your dad and he came out to sit with simon, perry and lucy. you and i retired to daddy's office and i fed you. From there, you stayed in daddy's office throughout the game - which went to the 12th inning, culmanating in the Twins win.
3. We had some blood drawn yesterday for some additional allergy testing. result will come by friday.

Milk Allergy
So - the doctor called today and you have a milk allergy. fairly significant - but nothing serious.
Today was the first day of Academy for Simon and Lucy. You and I were in the nursery during the first of three hours. the second hour, you were with a woman named Aubrey - and each and every time i checked in on you, you were sitting in her arms, rocking back and forth; very content. The third hour - you and i made our way into the 'parent room' and had some snacks. you dozed off in my arms for about 20 minutes or so and rejoined in the conversation.
two nights ago; you awakened around 11:30 and showed no signs of wanting to be back in bed until well after 2am.
i understand this is choppy and less emotional than others; but with each lioness yawn, i yearn more and more to be in bed. you just ate and are down for another couple of hours, so i think i will follow suit.
night lovey!!

Laying on the living room floor with your sister - she says, "kiss kiss" She kisses you as an example. You stare intently at her; with desirous sound - wanting to communicate with her.
You are up on all fours and almost ready to take those first fleeting movements with coordinating legs and arms. 18 pounds you are and as you begin to cry, this post comes to conclusion/

Crawling?
Another brief update in the life of Sidney Hans Avenson. You are now practing getting on all fours. You are able to get things you want by scooching on the floor. everytime i try to change your diaper, you turn over on the changing table and make it quite difficult. Right now, lucy was just playing with and getting a ride from daddy on a 'magic carpet'
You love playing with your feet and you smile all the time. You are getting much better and being by yourself - for which i am grateful. I am going to see if i can attach a video.
Love you for ever.

Dentist Office
You were at the dentist office today with your three siblings and all in the office commented on how cute you were as well as how happy you were as a baby. or should i say, ARE as a baby. You continue to shine to all around. "Oh, what a cutey." "Well, hello handsome boy!" you smile on command, you coo when prompted and all fall in love with you. I think i noted it earlier, but you are not mobile; rolling around from stomach to back and back to stomach. fun fun fun.

another quick one
sidney - all your postings seems to be succinct and to the point.
Present time: Simon practicing scales on the piano for today's lesson at Mrs. Steiners. Perry is shifting through some legos in the sunroom and Lucy is folding laundry as part of her chore today. Tomorrow, grandpa rod and grandma sylvia come to visit you for 10 days. Oh, i almost forgot; and the reason why i am writing. You are in your crib squealing away. you have a new squeal that you must love, but it sounds like a pterodactyl. anyway, you were crying and not wanting to nurse and i could tell you were tired. when i put you down, you nestled right in your bed; put your thumb in your mouth and let out a little giggle. this is really cool about you and i think perry used to do it as well. when you want to lay down, you really show it.
yesterday i took you to the doctors as you had an incredible case of eczema. you have two almost open soars on your torso that are hurting you and adding to sleepless nights. so - we now have some antibiotics for you.
you have begun eating solid foods and i will get a picture in here somehow to show you.
that is it for now =did i tell you that you are rolling over from back to tummy? it happened about 10 days ago. very fun.

quick
with everything in this house lately, things are done quickly. if you procrastinate, it never gets done because the earth is just spinning way to fast in avenson land to ever catch up. I just peeked inside my room and currently, you are wide awake, laying in bed. i need just one more cup of coffee, my love, and then i will join you.
Feats of GREATNESS
1. Smiling to anyone and everyone who encounters you. They LOVE you and want to eat you up :)
2. Your buoyant laugh. It starts off low and rises to the top with a squealing style
3. Your beginnings of trying to roll over. it will happen very soon. both you and simon loved to sleep on your belly and you are beginning to show that you will go from back to tummy any time
4. Looking in the mirror with mommy, you notice the little boy staring back at you and you play this shy individual - cooing a little bit and then hiding your little head under my neck. You also smile and laugh at this new friend of yours.
5. toleration of being on your own. i can put you in the swing for about 5 - 10 minutes now. this allows me to 'quickly' get something done before I pick you back up again.
6. Mrs. Berlin picked you up the other day and as we talked, you settled right into her shoulder and fell asleep. she didn't want to give you up and even pretended to walk inside her house for the remainder of the evening.
7. Your acceptance of anybody and everybody around you - i find this fascinating and hope it plays out in your future. it will be fun to watch.
side story:
you, daddy and mommy went out the other night. daddy and mommy were discussing 'smart phone' technology (yes, only the most romantic conversation with a computer nerd). after our conversation, we were discussing how 'smart phone' technology will almost be like 8-track tapes from the late 60's and early 70's. they are obsolete (a collectors item) right now. Record players, dial telephones, manual televisions with rabbit ears, etc. Our new 'smart phone' technology that we are talking about and getting giddy about the possibilities will be such an archaic development when you are....well, we will see. how old will you be when we smirk at our smart phone, sitting in a box of things to toss.
Second cup of coffee is almost complete and you are still content. thank you

Before I Go To Sleep
Sidney - through my yawns, i make myself write to you. I have been neglectful, to say the least and i apologize with body and mind.
you are asleep at the moment and will wake up soon. we will join together and share in our nightly moment with the other. your smile will bring me peace and your soft and graceful cooing will melt my heart.
lately, you have been practicing laughing. It is a joy to listen to you inhale your giggles. You are now three months of age and have enjoyed walks around purgatory park, library visits with your siblings, picnics with your family and countless car rides - taking your brothers and sister places of entertainment.
I have to mention, before i fall asleep, that right now, Sting in playing in your room, Just like your brother Perry, your favorite lullaby seems to be from Sting. You are quieted instantly when it comes on.
i love you and i look forward to your awakening in an hour or so.
Youll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
Youll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in the fields of gold
So she took her love
For to gaze awhile
Upon the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down
Among the fields of gold
Will you stay with me, will you be my love
Among the fields of barley
Well forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we lie in the fields of gold
See the west wind move like a lover so
Upon the fields of barley
Feel her body rise when you kiss her mouth
Among the fields of gold
I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that Ive broken
But I swear in the days still left
Well walk in the fields of gold
Well walk in the fields of gold
Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down
Among the fields of gold
Youll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in the fields of gold
When we walked in the fields of gold
When we walked in the fields of gold

Sidney - you are presently laying to my left at 9:26 at night. you are finally asleep. this afternoon has been tough on you and you have been crying off and on - even when i would try to nurse you, you would break out in cries. i put you in your crib and you lasted a short while. i came and got you and put you in my arms and carried you to my bed. you fell asleep instantly and you are still asleep. last night, i went and got you around 1am, brought you to bed because i was very tired (as i am now) and nursed you back to sleep. i had 3cm left of the bed to sleep on and of course, i could have moved you over, but i didn't. i let you sleep - and i barely had enough room for myself. this reminds me of your dad because sometimes he will act in the same way -- with me. i am off on a non attractive verbage tangent.
updates: smiling all the time. beginning a cute little laugh. staring contests -- you win! talking with new language with great passion. sleeping sporadically throughout the day. growing into a very big boy. 16 pounds at the moment.
okay - you are beginning to get restless. i should go. i love you sooooooo much!

Tonight i escaped. I intended to get out and actually write about your life. your 5 weeks of life. It did not exactly happen and presently, you are at my side on my bed, sound asleep.
You have been with us for 5 weeks. you are one vocal baby. you let everyone know that you are around and that your little lungs are in great working form. there is no denying my passionate and unending love for you; but there have been a couple of trying times my little son.
two days ago, i was able to dress you in the 0-3 month clothing. upon arriving home (at 6 pounds 14 ounces), daddy and aunt robin had to go out to target and buy you all new clothing because you did not fit into anything. You are now close to 11 pounds and fitting nicely into your new digs.
each night, around 8pm, you and I retreat down the hall to mommy's room and say good night to the rest of the world. you stay in my bed until morning. this is my favorite part of day and there are times when the day is bright, i say, "you just have until 8pm and it is you and sidney time"
you have yet to smile, but i am anticipating it being very soon.
Good night kisses
