34 months

it was 34 months ago and tomorrow, i will reflect from another distant marker.

You are 34 months and this evening, i turned in your registration form for preschool next fall.  You have literally grown up in a church surround; more so than your siblings....they have paved the way for this existence and as a family, we are grounded in the environment.

members used to hold you. They still ogle at you, play with you, and yearn for a relationship with you.  Many are in disbelief that  you could be turning 3 and old enough to enter those gates to preschool.

I write about you --- or, i 'update' family and friends on my Elocutionist site, but i really need to get to this more frequently.

You are a loud and boisterous 3 year old, but your words have not come as easy as your siblings.  I am okay with this, but as i turned in your form this evening, i was wondering about how your teachers will adapt to your 1-2 word sentences.  Perhaps there will be a monumentous growth period this summer.

Here is a taste of your fine vocal:

WATER: A-la
COFFEE: Hof (you will find a similar theme with the letter H)
LUCY: Hee-Hee
SIMON: Han
PERRY: Herry
MILK: Kch (it is more of a sound than anything else)
BLANKET: Bbblah (again, more of a sound)
GATO: ah-ho
EIGHT and NINE: Eh-gtha (not sure why this is..when you count, you say the typical numbers in your own way.  But EIGHT/NINE just symbolize when you see a number
TRUCK: Rucchc
OKAY: Oh-Hay, Momma?  Oh-Hay?  (You ask me this whenever you think something might be wrong, or if i sneeze or if i raise my voice)
MORE BOTTLE: Moe-Ba

You have heard me say, "Hold On" or "Just a minute" way too many times.  When i now ask you to do something, you put a finger up and say, "Hoe-on momma."

I am going to publish this for now and try to be a better mom at getting these updates out in a more timely manner.

Happenings in September??

My oh my -- how do i do this?

With all great intention, i try to communicate on a regular basis. Currently, you climbing up the stairs to be near your brother perry, who just walked in from building a ramp in the garage for his rip-stick. You are crying, becuase you want to be back outside. So, through your cries, you screech out -- "eeee" "eeeeee" super loud. Here you come into the sun room ,'Mama, mama" stepping over to your frog, climbing up and looking out the window, "eeee!" "Eeee!" is anybody out there?

Now you are fake crying and walking over to me and the computer. i guess i should go little blond haired curly boy walking around in circles are you cry...too funny.

Happenings in June

Sidney - sooner than later, i suppose.

Lately, these are fun things

1. When you fall or hit something, you make this very cute rounded 'O' shape with your mouth and say, "Oh" in a cute soft way.

2. You are still not saying any words except for Momma.

3. You seem to think it is okay to hit mom in the face.

4. Yesterday, when i was reading to Simon and Lucy, you would come up to me on repeated occasion and scream - just to get my attention. Once i stopped and looked at you, you would stop.

5. you are signing a lot, but i don't know what it means. You squeeze your hands together as if you are saying, "Milk" but i think it is your way of saying Mom instead.

6. You kiss with your head. you and daddy kiss with touching your foreheads together.

7. You really like the ladybug and the butterfly books -- you have mommy take your fingers and count the bumpy ladybugs. You also like "The Very Hungry Catepillar" for that same reason. You like it when I take your fingers and count the fruit.

7 items to make you smile.

time flies

Sidney:
Always a quick little blurb. you are in your crib calling my name. i will have to go soon. here is a quick update
1. walking. this took place about a month ago, when you were really successfully walking more than crawling. you toyed with this adventure for quite some time, but decided to go all out not too long ago.
2. you just arrived home from Europe. You went with all of us for 16 days. Paris, Strasbourg, Gunzburg (Legoland), Fussen (BIG castle and very high bridge over a gorge), Frankfurt - visiting cousins - although, you simply walked around, and mom and dad followed you everywhere. many stairs in auntie erins house Iceland and now home.
3. We nick named you "The Beast" in Europe. You really are not saying too much, but you make a large array of sounds and you make yourself heard. i think you are by far, the loudest avenson. We would need you to be quiet and you would not have any of it. babble on and on in a very loud tone.
4. You are incredibly independent. this is fun to see.
5. You are a pacifier baby. You have one in your mouth at all times. I am always cleaning them off.
6. tomorrow is your second father's day with daddy. We bought him a coffee machine.
7. Chris, across the street, really loves to play with you. i am hoping to have him over more often to keep you occupied.
8. not sure if i wrote about this or not. twins had their opener and you went. you were not happy to be there and cried quite a bit --- ruining the experience of the first game of the season....just sayin'

okay, you are getting louder by the minute. oh, you also hit mommy in the face from time to time. very demonstrative and independent. yes we love you dearly - you are simply making your place known in the family. I have been trying to teach you sign language and you really won't comply --- knowing that grunts and screams will be just as effective.

when in paris, we would go out to dinner with your auntie erin and uncle gilles. you would be crying and auntie erin would take you and bounce you on her kneee and you would conk out. in paris, we also walked an entire day with you in our arms, as the airline lost our luggage. you handled it all in stride my dear.

okay, that is it for now.

WAY OVER DUE

But this is how i operate as of late.

KEY BULLET POINTS
  • You are now 13 months old
  • talking talking talking. You say Da-da and sometimes Ma-ma. You make a sounds as if you are asking a question. It is jsut a sound, but it is awfully cute!!!
  • You are a SCREAMER!! I am not sure why, but you are the LOUDEST avenson ever to live. Avenson's are historically known for being quiet and meek people. One day when you go up to Park Rapids and you sit in a circle of Avenson men, you will see what i mean. They are soft speakers, intentional speakers, and do not rattle off easily. Not so much with you, my friend. You squawk! You Screech! You Scream! almost to the point where the rest of us are left covering our ears.
  • You are also the most curious Avenson. You may have your brother, Perry, beat. We recenly bought cupboard and cabinet locks - we have never found ourselves in this position. All previous siblings as babies knew the rules. you don't open the cupboard. You look at us, you smile as we say the word NO and you open the cupboard anyway. Any cupboard, any door, any closet - you are in!!
  • You are in the 5th percentile of growth. You were previously in the 0 percentile, but somehow, gained enough ounces to put you in the 5th. You eat well, you move well, you are gaining --- little by little.
  • You are learning to walk. you take a couple of steps and then decide the crawling is much easier for you. many praise you when you take those 3-4 steps.
  • you are a very cheerful baby (as your sister lucy proclaims)
  • You are currently crying in your crib -- wanting to come out.
  • OH - this is cute. when you are in your crib and if i have given you a bottle before hand, you will see me come into your room, reach down for your bottle and hand it to me as if to say you are in need of more. very cute.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

It's been quite a while....why is that. You are sleeping - your morning nap. You are climbing up on things, standing in your crib and such.

1. When nursing, you hum until your milk comes. as if this is your magical calling.
2. When i stick my tongue out at you, you bring yours out as well and play with it.
3. you take your fingers and serenade me with sounds from fingers and lips.
4. everytime you get a cheerio in your mouth, you shout out and talk.
5. You still are smiling at anyone and everyone, but once they pick you up or take you over, you lean back for mommy.
6. You are about 20 pounds - almost ready to change your car seat.
7. enamored by your sister and your brother. Perry needs to pay more attention to you.

History

Why do i always wait until the last minute to add somethign to your blog??

You are now 7 months old. You make heads turn my lovely boy. so many people are in awe of your beauty and in return, you smile, laugh, coo and add to thier sense of pleasure.

A couple of things
1. When you are nursing, you hum (or so it seems) when no milk is coming and you hum as if you are singing for your supper. it is very endearing.

2. This evening, i took you to the Twins baseball game. you lasted up until the 5th inning and then you began to sound off until many of the patrons were looking your way. I called your dad and he came out to sit with simon, perry and lucy. you and i retired to daddy's office and i fed you. From there, you stayed in daddy's office throughout the game - which went to the 12th inning, culmanating in the Twins win.

3. We had some blood drawn yesterday for some additional allergy testing. result will come by friday.
